Saudi Arabia blamed Iran for a series of attacks on the kingdom's oil infrastructure over the weekend, rejecting claims by Houthi rebels that the strikes were launched from Yemen.

Speaking at a press conference, Saudi defence ministry spokesman Turki al-Maliki said that evidence points to Iran being behind strikes on two Aramco sites on Saturday, which caused a major disruption in global oil supplies.

Maliki presented his evidence with wreckage of cruise missiles and drones, he said were used in the attacks.

He also rejected the "false narrative" given by "Iran and its proxies" that the attacks were launched by Houthi rebels in Yemen.

"The attack was launched from the north and unquestionably sponsored by Iran," defence ministry spokesman Turki al-Maliki said. "We are working to know the exact launch point."
