Gaza was shelled by Israel for a second day on Monday, after shots were fired from the besieged Palestinian enclave.

Two Hamas positions were targeted by the Israeli tank on Monday morning in northern Gaza, Israel's military said.

It comes a day after the enclave was again, when four men allegedly tried to cross the Gaza border to damage Israeli equipment.

Military positions of Gaza's ruling party Hamas are regularly targeted in air strikes, with Israel holding the group responsible for any attacks launched from enclave.

Rocket fire from Gaza into Israel is usually carried out by jihadi groups, not Hamas.

Tensions are high as Gaza prepares to remember Land Day on Friday, an annual commemoration to mark protests against the Israeli annexation of Palestinian land for settlements and the military that were brutally put down.

Hamas is also holding military exercises in Gaza, with the enclave under a decade long siege from Israel and Egypt.
