Prosecutors in the UAE have accused a Moroccan woman of killing her boyfriend, then butchering and cooking his body and serving his remains to Pakistani workers in a traditional rice and meat dish known as Makboos.

The National newspaper in Abu Dhabi reported that prosecutors in al-Ain emirate say that a woman was arrested on suspicion of killing her boyfriend of seven years after he told her of his plans to marry someone else.

The newspaper, on Tuesday, reported that the man was killed three months ago, but that the crime only came to light in recent days after the man's brother went looking for him and found a human tooth inside the woman's blender.

DNA tests confirmed that the tooth belonged to the man's brother.

The woman initially denied killing her boyfriend, before later admitting that the crime took place during a moment of "insanity", The National reported.

She told police she wanted revenge after providing for him financially for seven years, and enlisted the help of a friend to dispose of his remains.

During questioning, the woman's friend said she didn't witness the killing but noticed blood stains in her home.

Police say the woman will face trial after an investigation is completed.
