Iran's only Jewish MP called Israel's Prime Minister an "insane vampire" in Parliament on Tuesday for saying Iran sought to "destroy the Jewish people".

Siamak Moreh Sadegh criticised Binyamin Netanyahu for his recent remarks against Tehran and for his alleged role in killing Palestinian citizens, Iran's state-owned Fars News reported.

"Netanyahu is an insane vampire drowned in crimes from head to toe and the recent remarks made by the racist Israeli prime minister is not surprising to me," he said.

The lawmaker's statement is related to Netanyahu's reference to Persia's historic attempt to destroy the Jewish nation thousands of years ago.

In a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Friday, Netanyahu said Persia had made "an attempt to destroy the Jewish people that did not succeed" around 2,500 years ago.

Putin tried to return the conversation to the present day, saying the events described took place "in the fifth century BC. We now live in a different world. Let us talk about that now."

The long-term leader of the Tehran Jewish Committee, echoed Iran's foreign minister's statement on Sunday that Netanyahu told "bigoted lies".

"Netanyahu resorting to fake history and falsifying Torah. Force of habit," Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted.

Moreh Sadegh last publicly criticised the Israeli government of spreading misinformation in 2007, when 40 Iranian Jews secretly emigrated to Israel.

"This is a misinformation campaign, a campaign of lies against Iran and its Jewish community," he said.

There is a small population of around 20,000 Jews living in Tehran who attend the city's nearly 60 Synagogues.
