More than $94,000 has been raised for a cyclist who "flipped-off" President Donald Trump's motorcade, in an action that prompted employers to fire her from her job.

Juli Briskman was cycling in the US' Virginia when the president's motorcade passed by her last month. The cyclist, who says she made made eye contact with the Secret Service, raised her middle finger at the motorcade in an attempt to express her feelings toward the controversial commander-in-chief.

The image soon went viral, prompting Briskman's government contractor employer, Akima LLC, to take action against the employee for allegedly violating their social media policy.

But thousands of social media users from around the globe backed the newly-unemployed 50-year-old marketing executive, raising more than $94,000 in an online GoFundMe page.

The fundraiser describes Briskman as "an inspiration to us all" and slams her unfair dismissal that many say was a mere freedom of expression.

Responding to the "generous donations", Juli said "I am buoyed by your support. For now, I can just say THANK YOU and promise to be a good steward of these funds".

“I never imagined that my "one-finger salute" to the Presidential motorcade and its occupant would cost me my job. The actions of my company were swift and unexpected.”
