The wife of Emirati prime minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum personally delivered more than $350,000 worth of aid to Haiti after a deadly hurricane killed hundreds last week.

Princess Haya bint al-Hussain travelled to Port-au-Prince this week to deliver the 90 metric tonnes of supplies provided by Dubai's International Humanitarian City [IHC] to those devasted by Hurricane Matthew in the Caribbean.

The aid, which included supplies from the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot and its partners including Save the Children, Handicap International, World Vision International, Catholic Relief Services, USAID and Lutheran World Relief, was airlifted using the prime minister's personal 747B-400 jet.

The princess publicised the journey through a series of images posted on her Instagram account.

More than 1.4 million people have been affected by Hurricane Matthew and the Emirati aid is expected to provide relief for some 340,000 people.

Water purification units, mosquito nets, medical supplies, tents and other support equipment are among the supplies sent to Haiti.
