Bahraini activists have 'cleaned up' the spot where an Israeli reportedly took a picture outside a pro-Palestine organisation.

Bahraini activists have "cleaned up" the spot where an Israeli reportedly took a picture outside a pro-Palestine organisation, reports said on Wednesday, during a conference on Palestinian-Israeli peace in the Gulf island state.

The activists mopped up the Bahraini Society Against Normalisation with the Zionist Enemy after an image of an unnamed man posing for a selfie with an Israeli passport outside the building went viral on social media.

"This ground will not be defiled. We will purify it from the unclean person who contaminated this place," one activist says in the video as he cleans with a mop.

The undated picture appeared on social media on the first day of the US-sponsored "Peace to Prosperity" conference in Manama.

A handful of Israeli journalists, businessmen and academics have made their way to Bahrain to attend the conference hosted by the Gulf kingdom.

Their unprecedented visit is facilitated by the involvement of the US, an ally of both countries, which do not have diplomatic relations.

The US has rolled out economic proposals at the conference in Bahrain aimed at paving the way towards a peace process between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

But the Palestinians are boycotting the event, accusing President Donald Trump's administration of pro-Israel bias.
