A dispute over a parking ticket in Dubai ended with a woman driving off with a valet parking worker sat on her car's bonnet, police said on Tuesday.

A video filmed by another driver was shared widely on social media, showing the man sitting on the woman's car as she attempted to drive off. The man, who is dressed in a valet worker's uniform, falls off the bonnet of the vehicle a number of times, before the video cuts off.

"We summoned the man and the woman to the police station," Colonel Faisal al-Qasim, Director of Security Media at Dubai Police, was quoted by Gulf News as saying. "He said that she gave him a parking ticket for another car, while the woman said that she paid the fee and gave him the correct parking ticket."

"It was a financial dispute between the Arab national man and the woman over the parking fees," al-Qasim added, describing the pair's actions as "strange behaviour".

Police also cautioned the public against recording traffic incidents, in line with laws forbidding passers-by from filming them.

"It is a breach of privacy for others and punishable by law," al-Qasim said.
