Mo Salah scored two goals and made two assists in Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final match against Roma on Tuesday night.

It brings the Egyptian striker just four goals away from the club's ultimate tally for a player of 47 goals in a season.

Salah's first goal came in the 35th minute, a thundering shot that hit the bar and went into the net.

Ten minutes later and Salah scored a second putting Liverpool 2-0 up against the Italian club.

The game finished 5-2 to Liverpool - thanks to two Salah assists - which should see the Premiership side reach the finals of the European Champions League after the second leg match in Rome.

Salah has now scored 43 goals in 47 appearances for Liverpool.

He has set his eyes on breaking Liverpool's all-time record of 47 goals in a season.

Liverpool still have at least four games left this season, making Ian Rush's record a realistic target for the prolific striker.

But the Egyptian also broke other records on Tuesday night in Anfield.

Salah became the first African player to score more than nine goals in a Champions League campaign (he now has ten). He also became the second highest scorer in a season in Liverpool's history with only Ian Rush above him.

The Egyptian is also the top overall goal scorer in all competitions in Europe's top five leagues, according to BBC statistics.

Salah picked up the English Premiership's Players' Player of the Award this week. Now pundits are tipping him for the ultimate players' prize - the Ballon d'Or.
