At least 220 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since months of border protests began in March.
A Palestinian shot last month by Israel during protests in Gaza has succumbed to his wounds, the health ministry in the Gaza Strip said on Thursday.

Ahmad al-Najar, 21, was shot by Israeli fire east of Khan Yunis and was later transferred to the occupied West Bank for treatment, a health ministry spokesman said in a statement.

He died on Wednesday, the spokesman added.

Israeli forces shot and killed Mohammed Abu Sharbeen, 20, on Thursday during protests in Gaza.

At least 220 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since months of border protests began in March, according to an AFP tally.

Recent days have seen progress towards an agreement whereby  Hamas would stop the protests in return for an easing of Israel's blockade of the coastal enclave.

Palestinians in Gaza have been protesting weekly since March to demand the end of Israel's crippling decade-long siege of the coastal territory.

The mass demonstrations have also demanded the right of return for Palestinian refugees to the homes and land which their descendants were forcibly expelled from or fled during the 1948 war surrounding Israel's creation.
