Five Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli fire in fresh protest on the Gaza border Friday, the Health Ministry in the enclave said.

Mohammed al-Nabi, 27, was shot in the head during weekly protests along the Israel-Gaza border fence, health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra told AFP.

Three other victims were killed east of Khan Younes and were named by as Nassar Abu Taym, 22, Ghassan Shaat, 23, and 23-year-old Ahmed Abu Labda. Over 80 protesters were also wounded.

Gazans have taken part in near daily protests along the border since March 30 against Israel's crippling 11-year blockade of the impoverished enclave.

More than 205 Palestinians and one Israeli have been killed in the violence.

Israel has accused Hamas, which runs Gaza, of orchestrating the protests.
