The four children were transferred to hospital for treatment after an Israeli car crashed into them in a hit and run incident.
Four young Palestinian children were severely injured in East Jerusalem on Thursday evening after an Israeli settler "deliberately" crashed his vehicle into them.

The children, named as Amir and Hamza Abu Sbeih, Anas Haymouni and Youssef Roman, all aged around six-years-old, were transferred to the Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem immediately, Palestine's Ma'an news said.

"We jumped out the way, first my brother and then me," said Hamza Abu Sbeih.

The incident occurred on al-Ein Street in the Silwan neighbourhood, south of the al-Aqsa mosque after the vehicle mounted the pavement in a hit and run incident.

Incidents of Israelis deliberately crashing into Palestinians happen relatively regularly but are rarely investigated by the Israeli authorities with many events chalked up as "accidents".

By comparison, dozens of Palestinians have been arrested for attacking Israelis, since a new wave of violence broke out in October 2015.

Four-year-old Ahmad Mithqal al-Jaabari was injured after an Israeli settler's car allegedly crashed into him on purpose in May.

According to the United Nations' humanitarian wing, a reported 107 Palestinians were killed in attacks by Israeli settlers in 2016. This was a 37 percent decrease on 2015, when 169 people were killed.
