A 16-year-old Palestinian teenager died on Friday a day after she was shot by Israeli forces after allegedly stabbing a soldier outside a West Bank settlement.

The girl was identified by official Palestinian news agency Wafa as Nawaf Infiaat, 16, from the Jenin-area town of Yaabad.

She is reported to have stabbed an Israeli soldier at the entrance to the Mevo Dotan Jewish settlement near Jenin before being shot.

She was taken to the Hillel Yaffe hospital in the Israeli city of Hadera in critical condition, and on Friday succumbed to her wounds, a hospital spokeswoman told AFP.

The Israeli soldier was taken to the same hospital with a stab wound to his upper body.

Video of the incident emerged online, reportedly showing the young woman writhing in pain as Israeli settlers stand around her shouting "B*tch" and "Die, die. Suffer."

A wave of unrest that broke out in October 2015 has claimed the lives of 267 Palestinians, 41 Israelis, two Americans, two Jordanians, an Eritrean, a Sudanese and a Briton, according to an AFP tally.

More than 20 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in 2017.
