King Abdullah of Jordan met with Donald Trump on Thursday in what appears to be an unconventional setting on the sideline of the annual National Prayer Breakfast.

King Abdullah of Jordan met with US President Donald Trump in a restaurant at a Washington D.C. hotel on the sidelines of the National Prayer Breakfast event, according to an image shared by the Jordanian embassy in the US.
Abdullah, whose visit to the US began on Monday, was welcomed by the newly-elected president in what appears to be a rushed and unconventional setting for a meeting between heads of states at the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue NW.
The Jordanian king was joined by the director of his office, the minister of foreign affairs and the Jordanian ambassador to Washington.
The White House did not give immediate information over what was discussed in the meeting, and there were contradicting statements as to the issues tackled.
Jordanian media said the king warned Trump against relocating the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, a hot-botton issue in the Arab world, but a White House statement later said they discussed safe zones in Syria.
Trump said last week he would establish safe zones in Syria for refugees fleeing violence in the war-torn country.
According to Jordanian Petra News Agency, the two head of states discussed strengthening stragetic ties and working together to combat terrorisim.
King Abdullah and his wife, Queen Rania, then joined Trump at the annual National Prayer Breakfast.
Abdullah is the first Arab leader to meet with the new administration in the US.
His country is part of a US-led military campaign against Islamic State militants in Syria but has scaled back its role following IS' capture and execution of a Jordanian pilot in 2015.
