The ousted Yemeni president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, warned of conspiracies against his party in a speech transcript posted to his Facebook account on Monday.

Saleh spoke in harsh terms about the 'genocide against civilians' and the international community's 'failure to stop the aggression' in the country.

"The enemies are planning to eliminate the nation and Congress – similar to what happened to the Baath party in Iraq," he said.

"They are operating under a scheme to tear Yemen apart through sectarianism into small, rival entities, with the aim of impoverishing the Yemeni people."

This is not the first time that Saleh has spoken about a conspiracy to destroy his country.

In April 2011, Saleh gave a speech at Sana'a University warning where he said: "The control centre for destabilising the Arab world is in Tel Aviv."

In November 2011, Saleh spoke on Saudi television warning of a "huge conspiracy to kill him".

Saleh stepped down as president of Yemen in November 2011 following an agreement with the Gulf Council, after tens of thousands of people took to the streets to protest against his rule.
