Deputy Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman will visit Jordan on Tuesday, accompanied by a number of Saudi officials. This is his first visit to Jordan since he assumed his post.

Bin Salman is expected to hold discussions with Jordanian King Abdullah II, and a number of Jordanian political and military leaders.

According to sources, which asked not to be named, the visit has a special significance for Jordan.

Amman sees it as a response to rumours about tensions between the two kingdoms following the death of King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz.

"The Jordanian-Saudi relations are impervious to tension," sources said.

During his visit Bin Salman, who is also the Saudi defence minister, is expected to focus on the two countries' efforts against terrorism and the military operations led by Riyadh in Yemen, in which Jordan is taking part by providing aerial support.

There have been reports Riyadh will ask Jordan to take part in limited ground operations in Yemen.
