Jewish extremists attack West Bank village

A Jewish extremist group known as the "Price Tag" gang has burned two Palestinian cars and painted slogans on a house in the village of al-Mughir, east of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

The head of al-Mughir village council Faraj al-Naasan on Thursday told al-Araby al-Jadeed: "A group of extremist settlers stormed the village this morning and burned two cars belonging to Jamal Abu Alia and Akram al-Naasan.

"Members of the group wrote racist slogans such as 'death to Arabs' and 'glory to the Jews'. There have been the dozens of attacks by group on the village because of a dispute over some land.

"The village has been attacked by settlers frequently, they have burned the mosque twice, homes, cars and agricultural land. They have also killed livestock."

Israeli army and police went with Nasaan to the places that were attacked and claimed to make a report on the incident. Arrests are rare after such attacks.

Israeli police spokeswoman Luba al-Samari told Arabic media: "Early this morning the police received a report from Palestinians that two car had been burnt and racist slogans had been painted in al-Mughir."

The Anadolu new gency reported that the police, army and forensic experts would analyse evidence from the scene.

Also on Thursday, a group of settlers stormed the al-Aqsa mosque in occupied East Jerusalem amid tight security by the Israeli police and army.

They roamed around the halls of the mosque to provoke those who were praying.

In Hebron, Israeli police arrested two Palestinian men after raiding their homes.
