Egyptian football star Mo Salah has scored his 40th goal of the season, equaling a record of Liverpool legend Ian Rush.
Egyptian legend Mohamed "Mo" Salah scored his 40th goal of the season on Saturday, equaling the record of Welsh maestro Ian Rush who became the last Liverpool player to reach that tally in 1987.

Salah reached the landmark after scoring against Bournemouth in the English Premier League, where he is the top scorer with 30 goals in the competition.

He is just four goals shy of the Premier League records held by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer of 34 and could possibly eclipse this tally in the coming weeks.

The Egyptian has scored ten more goals in other competitions such as the Champions League.

In the 68th minute in the game against Bournemouth, Salah scored his 40th goal of the season and made it into Liverpool history.

His boss, Jurgen Klopp, praised Salah's achievement.

"Thirty one years ago since Ian Rush. He doesn't look that old. Was he 14 years old when he did it?" said the German manager.
Salah has been key to Liverpool's change in fortures this season.

The club - once one of the biggest in Europe - have reached the semi-finals of the Champions League and sit third in the Premiership.

He has already become a cult favourite among Liverpool fans. Songs praising the star's Muslim beliefs have gone viral and his name is regularly chanted at Liverpool games.

Ian Rush holds the all-time Liverpool record for the most goals scored in a season with 47 in the 1983-84.

With Liverpool having at least six games left this season and Salah on form, seven goals is not an impossible target for the 25-year-old.
