Homophobic hashtag attacking 'incomplete men' goes viral in Saudi
A homophobic social media hashtag calling for the arrest of "incomplete men" went viral in Saudi Arabia, drawing both support and condemnation from within the kingdom.

A homophobic hashtag calling for the arrest of "incomplete men" has gone viral in Saudi Arabia.
Twitter erupted with posts referring to gay men, or those who display feminine qualities, as "incomplete" and called for their arrest.
As the hashtag picked up pace, vicious comments were shared, even calling for the murder of men believed to be gay.
"Bring back the religious police, let them punish and lash them until they repent"
"Arrest them, punish them with lashes and teach them how to become real men"
However, the hashtag also attracted comments from those defending the LGBTQ community and their right to sexual freedom.
Homosexuality is illegal in Saudi Arabia, but the conservative kingdom is among a small handful of countries which carries the most extreme punishments for same-sex relationships.
Authorities rule by a strict interpretation of Sharia law and homosexuality could be punishable by death.
