A Lebanese candid camera show caused a backlash this week after airing an episode where a Syrian young man seeking work was mocked and humiliated.

"Hadi Albak", a comedy series shown on Christian right-wing Free Patriotic Movement's channel OTV, found it was appropriate to humiliate a young Syrian man looking for work by approaching him as undercover security men and forcing him to strip off his clothes and parade around carrying a sign, just for laughs.

The skit – which runs for over 20 minutes – left an obviously shaken and confused young man with no choice but to act out the orders being shouted at him by two actors threatening to shoot and arrest him.

Viewers left disturbed by the show rushed to social media to voice their anger, calling for the boycott of the channel – affiliated to current Lebanese President Michel Aoun - and for the suspension of the show.

The hashtag #Stop_Hadi_Albak quickly gained traction on Twitter.
