Egypt rejects luxury gift offered for scoring Egypt's world cup-qualifying goal and asks for a donation to be made for his hometown.

Egypt and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has reportedly rejected the offer of a luxury villa for launching Egypt into the World Cup finals in Qatar 2022.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Salah requested that the Egyptian businessman who offered the luxury property, Mamdouh Abbas, instead make a donation to his village of Nagrig in Gharbiya province.

Abbas, who is the former president of Zamalek football clubm, had wanted to gift Salah the property in recognition of Egypt's first World Cup qualification since 1990.

Salah secured Egypt's World Cup finals spot earlier this month by scoring a 94th minute penalty over Congo in Russia.

According to the Echo, the governor of Gharbiya renamed Salah's former school to 'Mohammed Salah Industrial High School' in his honour.
