In 1997, Dr Jenny Tonge was elected to the House of Commons for the Liberal Democrats. She became known as an outspoken campaigner for the Palestinian cause and now sits in the House of Lords as an Independent Liberal Democrat.
Comment: Women and children are suffering in wars across the Middle East. If more women were in positions of power things would be different, says Baroness Tonge.
Comment: It is up to the people to demand justice for Palestinians when governments won't. A good start would be to support the boycott campaigns against Israel.
